Computer history can keep all tracks of your activities in case you want to quickly access web pages that you have visited before, analyze the reasons for computer problems, or find any deleted emails, or other files. Recent file list is another important computer history that you might want to clear before other users start to work on your computer. Right-click the desktop taskbar (make sure to actually click on the desktop taskbar rather than an application), and choose “Properties” from the menu that shows up. Select the “Start Menu” tab and click “Customize.” In the popup window click on “Advance” and then pressing “Clear list” button, you will clear computer history so that the average user won’t be able to see what’s been done on the computer.
You can also manually remove temporary files by following these steps. Click “Start” and “Run”, enter “temp” and click “OK” to open Temporary Files Directory. Click the Edit menu—Select all. Then click the File menu and select Delete.
There is an easy way to clear all recent documents, searches and recent programs of a user. Browse the username directory in windows explorer. The path is simply C:. You’ll find Recent Documents, Searches and Recent Programs. In Vista, you can choose the folder “Everywhere” under Searches and get more information than you’ll know what to do with. Then you can deal with them as you will.
