The internet is buzzing around the idea that TV can be watched on the computer without the need for a PC TV card. You simply pay for a piece of software, download it, install it, and you instantly get thousands of channels at your viewing pleasure. Most of the software you can find online is offered for one time purchases, and you can get unlimited viewing on them. The kicker is that the software is a whole lot cheaper than any hardware that you can find.

The TV software works by acting as a hub for where you can actively search for the channels that you want to watch. They are handy if you are following a foreign soap opera, for instance; or if you need a channel that streams a show that you like in a timeslot that you can catch. It is also perfectly legal and safe. The only thing you should worry about is that some software may not be live up to your expectations. Still, you can hit a jackpot with other software. After all, they only have one time fees.

The TV tuner card, on the other hand, may require you to be a little tech savvy. You have to know how to install and use the tuner card. Also, different types of tuner cards will require different things from you.
